TP Mazembe has bolstered its squad with four key additions as the club aims to regain momentum in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Linafoot National League playoffs.
Head coach Lamine Ndiaye has included new signing Bonheur Monga and returning players Abdallah Radjabu, Othniel Mawawu, and Ousmane Kamissoko in the 25-man squad for the upcoming matches in Kinshasa.
Monga, a promising young striker, joins the team following his participation with the DRC Under-20 national team in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
His inclusion is expected to add depth to the attacking options. Meanwhile, Radjabu, Mawawu, and Kamissoko have recovered from injuries and are set to reinforce the defence and forward lines. Their return is timely, providing Ndiaye with more tactical flexibility.
The quartet’s inclusion comes after a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Saint Eloi Lupopo on May 8, 2025, where Mazembe struggled to break down their opponents.
The new additions are anticipated to strengthen the squad’s defensive solidity and attacking prowess.
Mazembe’s upcoming fixtures in Kinshasa include matches against Rangers on May 17, Vita Club on May 20, and Anges Verts on May 23.
These games are crucial for the club’s aspirations in the playoffs, where they currently sit sixth, three points behind joint leaders JSK and AS Maniema Union, each having played five matches.
However, the team will be without suspended players Boaz Ngalamulume and Basile Clefils Konga for these encounters. Their absence may impact the team’s depth, but the recent reinforcements are expected to mitigate this challenge.
Coach Ndiaye, who returned to TP Mazembe in April 2023 after a decade-long absence, is focused on rebuilding the team to compete at the highest level of African football.
His previous tenure saw significant successes, including multiple league titles and continental championships. Ndiaye’s experience and leadership are seen as pivotal in guiding the club through this transitional phase.
With the strengthened squad and strategic fixtures ahead, TP Mazembe is poised to challenge for top honours in the Linafoot playoffs, aiming to reclaim its status as a dominant force in Congolese football.
