TP Mazembe has officially announced the exit of Zambian international Tandi Mwape from its ranks. The versatile defender, who joined the club in 2019 from Kabwe Warriors, has opted to return home, securing a move to Zesco United in Zambia.
The decision comes in the wake of Tandi Mwape’s limited participation during the current season due to a thigh injury sustained during the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Despite his initial plans to return to TP Mazembe, the club confirmed the amicable resolution for the player’s transfer to Zesco United.
“After his participation in the 34th edition of the CAN, Tandi MWAPE will not return to the club as planned. The versatile defender is sold to Zesco United of Zambia, following an agreement between the three parties concerned,” stated the announcement on the Congolese club’s official website.
Tandi Mwape’s tenure with TP Mazembe showcased his defensive prowess and commitment since his arrival in 2019. However, the current season saw him sidelined due to the aforementioned thigh injury.
With a few months remaining on his contract, the 26-year-old defender made the decision to return to his home country.
This strategic move places Tandi Mwape in the ranks of Zesco United, offering fresh opportunities for the talented defender to contribute to his homeland’s football scene.
The departure marks the end of an era between the player and TP Mazembe, with both parties expressing mutual respect and understanding in facilitating this transition.
