Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Austrian defender Kevin Danso on loan from RC Lens, with an obligation to make the move permanent in the summer.
The 26-year-old centre-back joins Spurs until June 2025, pending international clearance and a work permit.
A statement on the club’s official website confirmed the deal, saying:
“We are delighted to announce the signing of Kevin Danso on loan from Ligue 1 club RC Lens, subject to international clearance and a work permit. The Austrian international defender will be loaned to the club until the end of the season, with a contract obligation to be made permanent this summer. He will wear the number four shirt.”
Danso has been a standout performer in Ligue 1 this season, making 13 appearances for Lens and earning praise for his defensive strength and tactical awareness.
His arrival at Tottenham provides a much-needed boost to a squad struggling defensively, with the club currently sitting 16th in the Premier League.
A product of the Augsburg youth system, Danso previously had a brief spell in English football with Southampton in 2019.
Now, he returns to the Premier League with greater experience and maturity, having established himself as one of Ligue 1’s most reliable defenders.
Spurs moved swiftly to complete the deal in the final hours of the winter transfer window, reinforcing their backline as they look to improve their league position.
With a mandatory purchase option in place, Danso’s future at the club appears set beyond the current season.
His arrival marks a significant move for Tottenham, who will be hoping his presence can bring stability and resilience to their defence as they aim to climb the table in the second half of the campaign.
