Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing a bid to acquire the services of Crystal Palace’s dynamic midfielder, Eberechi Eze, in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to the latest reports, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has identified the 26-year-old English-Nigerian as a priority target, and the club is now prepared to activate the player’s release clause of £68 million.
The move comes as Tottenham look to strengthen their defensive and midfield options, which have been an area of concern this season.
However, Tottenham’s pursuit of Eze is not without competition. Both Manchester United and Napoli have expressed interest in the player, although they are reportedly reluctant to meet Crystal Palace’s steep release clause.
The South London club’s sporting director, Johan Lange, is said to value Eze around the £50 million mark, a more reasonable price tag for potential suitors.
Crystal Palace, on the other hand, are determined to retain their prized asset, as they do not have a suitable replacement lined up.
The potential move to Tottenham could be a big one in Eze’s career, as it would offer him a more realistic chance of playing in Europe, something that could also catch the attention of England manager Thomas Tuchel.
