Tottenham Hotspurs manager Ange Postecoglou has provided a positive injury update on Senegal international Pape Matar Sarr.
The 22-year-old midfielder was forced off with an injury in his outfit 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa in the English Premier League on Saturday, sparking concerns about his fitness for the upcoming UEFA Europa League final against Manchester United.
He was subbed off in the 53rd-minute visibly uncomfortable, and was immediately escorted to the dressing room by the medical team. With just five days for high-stake Europa League final against Manchester United in Bilbao, fears are growing inside Spurs’ camp.
“He felt some discomfort in his back, it was mainly precautionary.” He said after the game against Aston Villa.
Sarr has established himself as a key member of the Tottenham Hotspurs squad. However, it will be a big blow for the English outfit should they lose the enterprising midfielder for the crunch final slated for Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
The midfielder has made 35 appearances in the English Premier League this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists.
In all competitions, Sarr has racked up six goals and delivered three assists from 53 appearances.
