NABIL BENTALEB RETURNS TO TRAINING AHEAD OF 2015 AFCON
Good news for Algeria and Tottenham: Nabil Bentaleb is back in training. The Algerian international midfielder, who has been out since October 15 with an ankle injury, resumed training with the Tottenham Hotspur squad, according to the club’s official website.
Bentaleb originally sustained the injury during the Malawi vs. Algeria match in the 2015 AFCON qualifiers on October 11. His condition worsened after featuring in the return leg just four days later in Blida, causing a longer-than-expected absence.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino had recently stated that the midfielder would be out for several weeks. However, the player, who just turned 20 years old, has made a quicker-than-expected recovery and is now back on the pitch, though not yet in full competition mode.
Having missed Algeria’s last two qualifiers against Ethiopia and Mali, Bentaleb’s return comes at the right time. He is now on track to be fit for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, which kicks off in Equatorial Guinea on January 17, 2015.
