Three days after their defeat at home against Benfica in the Europa League (1-3), Tottenham is gearing up to host their neighbors and arch-rivals, Arsenal.
This upcoming clash, known as the North London derby and scheduled as the final match of the 30th day of the English Championship on Sunday, is expected to be intense, given the stakes involved. Tottenham, currently in 5th place, sees it as a last chance for securing a spot in the Champions League, while Arsenal, positioned 3rd, eyes the title.
Despite initial uncertainties stemming from an injury, former Gunner and current Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor is determined not to miss this heated encounter. It’s a matter of pride for the Togolese striker as he prepares to face his former teammates.
“Arsenal are a good team when they have possession of the ball. However, they struggle when they don’t have it. When you apply pressure, they falter,” Adebayor explained to the Daily Express. “They lack someone who can say, ‘If I have to get physical, I’ll lead the way.’ You need to force them into making mistakes. That’s the approach we’ll need to adopt. Additionally, they lack physical presence.”
