On Sunday afternoon, Tottenham Hotspur will host Liverpool at their home ground for the 32nd day of the Premier League. In a potentially positive development for Spurs, Emmanuel Adebayor Sheyi may make a return to action.
Tim Sherwood, the coach of the London team, has revealed that the Togo international is feeling better and has expressed confidence in his ability to feature in the match at Anfield.
“He is confident he will be ready for Sunday. He knows his body better than us, and we hope that he will be fit,” stated Sherwood on Friday.
Adebayor sustained an injury prior to the match against Arsenal and was eager to play against his former club. However, this exertion may have exacerbated his health issues.
“He has a problem with his heel. The question is, are we going to leave him on the sidelines for this week and get him back afterwards? It could open again,” Sherwood added.
Following the Arsenal match, the captain of the Sparrowhawks missed the return leg of the 8th final against Benfica and the subsequent victory against Southampton.
Tottenham, still vying for a spot in the Champions League, currently sits in 6th place with 56 points, ahead of Arsenal (63 points, 4th) and Everton (57 points, 5th).
In addition to Adebayor, Sherwood can also count on the returns of Moussa Dembelé and Vlad Chiriches for the crucial fixture.
