The TotalEnergies CAF Champions League has reached its decisive knockout phase, with the quarter-finals set to kick off on Tuesday, 1 April.
Following an intense group stage, eight of Africa’s top clubs remain in contention, all vying for the prestigious continental title.
The eagerly anticipated quarter-final matchups will see Al Hilal (Sudan), AS FAR (Morocco), Espérance Sportive de Tunis (Tunisia), Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates (both South Africa), MC Alger (Algeria), defending champions Al Ahly FC, and Pyramids FC (both Egypt) battle for a place in the semi-finals.
The return legs will take place a week later on 8 and 9 April.
Heavyweights and dark horses collide
Among the remaining teams, six have previously lifted the trophy.
Record-holders Al Ahly are aiming for an unprecedented 13th title, while Espérance Sportive de Tunis, four-time champions (1994, 2011, 2018, 2019), remain a formidable force.
AS FAR (1985), Mamelodi Sundowns (2016), MC Alger (1976), and Orlando Pirates (1995) each seek to reclaim continental glory.
Meanwhile, Al Hilal and debut quarter-finalists Pyramids FC will look to upset the established order.
Al Hilal’s impressive campaign has made them one of the tournament’s surprise packages, while Pyramids FC are eager to make history by matching their Egyptian counterparts’ success.
