Torreense add Ghana centre-forward Malik Abubakari to Liga Portugal 2 squad

Ghana centre-forward Malik Abubakari has joined Torreense from Lyngby BK, with the 26-year-old striker beginning a new chapter in Portugal’s Liga Portugal 2.

Abubakari’s move was completed on 1 September after he left Lyngby, where he was part of the side that won the Danish second tier in 2026. No transfer fee was disclosed for the switch.

The Tamale-born forward joins Torreense after a spell in Denmark that began when he signed for Lyngby from Swedish club Malmo in August 2024. That move was completed as a free transfer, following his time with the Swedish side.

Abubakari has spent much of his career moving between clubs in Portugal and Scandinavia. He joined Malmo from Moreirense in July 2021 for €700,000, having previously had loan spells with Casa Pia and Fafe. He also represented HJK Helsinki in Finland and Slovakian club Slovan Bratislava on loan during his time with Malmo.

His career has included domestic success in several countries. As well as winning the Danish second tier with Lyngby, Abubakari was part of championship-winning teams at Malmo, HJK Helsinki and Slovan Bratislava. He also won the Swedish Cup with Malmo and the Danish reserve league with Viborg FF Reserves.

The 1.85m striker is predominantly a centre-forward and is right-footed. His arrival gives Torreense an experienced attacking option with a career that has included football in Portugal, Sweden, Finland, Slovakia and Denmark.

Abubakari’s first senior clubs in Portugal included Moreirense, Casa Pia and Fafe before his move to Malmo. He developed at Portuguese youth club Vizela after beginning his football journey with Ghanaian side Charity Stars.

Torreense’s new signing arrives with a current market value of €400,000 and a highest recorded market value of €1m. He has now added Portugal’s second tier to a career that has already taken him across five European football nations.

The completed transfer takes Abubakari from Danish champions Lyngby BK to Torreense.
