Mehdi El Maimouni, the Moroccan midfielder for the Belgian team Charleroi, under 16, has attracted the attention of several major European clubs for a potential contract starting from the upcoming football season.
According to reports from Spanish media, the Moroccan player has received an invitation from FC Barcelona to undergo technical trials with the team.
The coaching staff of Barcelona’s youth team has been impressed by his abilities, based on initial assessments during his games with his current team.
El Maimouni is expected to spend a week with FC Barcelona in the coming period, with the possibility of signing with the team if he proves his worth during the trials.
The same source also indicates that El Maimouni is being closely watched by several German and French clubs, as well as Newcastle United in England, considering him one of the most promising talents emerging from the Belgian football scene.
Meanwhile, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation is closely monitoring Mehdi El Maimouni to extend an invitation for him to join the national teams soon.
This move aims to block the Belgian Football Union, which is also interested in securing his services for the youth teams of “Les Diables Rouges” (The Red Devils).
