Top European clubs circle Moroccan forward Eliesse Ben Seghir amid mixed form at Monaco

AS Monaco forward Eliesse Ben Seghir is drawing interest from several of Europe’s elite clubs despite a dip in form and ongoing challenges with consistency during the second half of the Ligue 1 season.

The 20-year-old Moroccan international started last weekend’s fixture against Le Havre, his first league start in five matches.

However, he was withdrawn at halftime and continues to search for his first Ligue 1 goal since mid-February, when he found the net during Monaco’s emphatic 7-1 win over Nantes.

Ben Seghir, who has earned 10 caps and scored 3 goals for Morocco, remains one of the principality club’s most promising talents.

However, his recent performances suggest signs of fatigue after a demanding run of fixtures. Having played a key role in Morocco’s bronze-medal campaign at the Paris Olympics last summer and frequently featuring in international duty, the young attacker appears to be feeling the effects of an intense playing schedule.

Despite his recent inconsistency, Ben Seghir’s potential has not gone unnoticed across the continent. According to L’Équipe, four major clubs—Manchester City, Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen, and Bayern Munich, have all expressed interest in the Monaco forward.

The report states that informal enquiries have been made, with scouts continuing to monitor his situation closely as the summer transfer window approaches.

The young forward remains under contract at Monaco until 2027, and according to sources within the club, he is still firmly in their long-term plans.

Nevertheless, the interest from top-tier European clubs could present Monaco with a difficult decision, particularly if a sizeable offer arrives.

Transfermarkt currently values Ben Seghir at €30 million, a figure that reflects both his early promise and his experience at the international level.

However, the timing may not be ideal for Monaco to sell. With his recent performances lacking the consistency needed to drive up his price, some within the club believe a sale this summer could fall short of his true market potential.

So far this season, Ben Seghir has made 43 appearances in all competitions, including 28 starts. He has scored 9 goals and registered 4 assists, numbers that highlight his influence when in form but also underline the need for greater consistency if he is to break into the elite tier of European forwards.

Monaco remain hopeful that the attacking midfielder can recapture the spark that made him one of Ligue 1’s breakout stars last year.

With the season entering its final stretch and speculation intensifying around his future, the coming weeks will be crucial for both club and player.

Ben Seghir’s situation reflects the delicate balance many clubs face when managing young talents, between development, market opportunity, and long-term squad building.

Whether he stays in the principality or is lured away by one of Europe’s giants, his next move will be closely watched.
