In preparation for the start of the 1st division national football championship, the Togolese Football Federation (FTF) held a meeting with the presidents of various clubs at the federation’s headquarters. The meeting aimed to ensure a smooth start to the championship and avoid any complications.
Originally scheduled to commence on April 13, the start of the season was postponed to May 4. The FTF attributed the delay to the sporting activities planned for the celebrations of Togo’s 53rd independence anniversary, which occurred on April 27.
The opening match of the season is set to feature the reigning champion, Dynamique Togolais, facing off against the D2 champion, Anges de Notse. Amavi Patatu, the spokesperson for the FTF, confirmed the May 4 start date after discussions during the Executive Bureau meeting on Monday. The decision aimed to align with the constraints of the international calendar.
