The Togolese National Olympic Committee has undergone a change in leadership with the election of a new Executive Office. Auguste Dogbo, pictured in Tadegnon, emerged as the leader following Saturday’s ordinary congress in Lomé. Taking over from General Poutoyi Nabédé, the former president of the Togo Handball Federation now heads the committee.
In a notable development, the outgoing president, who was a candidate for his own re-election, withdrew during the voting process. Auguste Dogbo secured the position by garnering 24 votes, surpassing Dr. Nadouvi Lawson, the president of the Togolese Basketball Federation, who received 17 votes.
At 55 years old, Auguste Dogbo is well-acquainted with the organization, having previously served as the first vice-president of the committee before his election as president. Notably, he played a significant role in sponsoring the extraordinary congress held in Lomé from June 26 to 29, 2011, commemorating the 30th anniversary of ANOCA.
