Tchanilé Tchakala has officially taken over as coach of the Togo Hawks this Monday, following a lengthy recruitment process. Formerly the assistant to Didier Six, Tchakala now faces the challenge of leading the team with potentially limited autonomy.
The Togolese Football Federation (FTF) has expressed satisfaction with the appointment. FTF president Ameyi Gabriel assured support for the new coach, encouraging journalists and fans alike to back him:
“The choice goes straight to my heart, we will help him at the federation level… I think we will do a good job, to have a good result.”
However, the technical staff selection will not be entirely Tchakala’s decision. The FTF, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports, will choose his deputy and the rest of the coaching team, suggesting some shared control over the team’s management.
