Togolese Football Crisis: Signs of a Breakthrough as Talks Advance

The ongoing crisis shaking Togolese football may be approaching resolution. The transitional management of the Togolese Football Federation (FTF) is under review following the recent appointment of a normalization committee by FIFA, led by Antoine Folly. This move is aimed at restoring stability and preparing for proper federation elections.

According to sources, a delegation from the Group of 36 (G36)—which includes presidents of first and second division clubs and regional league heads—was received by the Prime Minister on Thursday. The meeting also involved members of the normalization committee. Though no details have officially emerged from the discussion, it marks a significant step toward consensus-building.

One major point of contention is the position of General Secretary of the normalization committee. The G36, during a prior meeting with Minister of Sports and Leisure Angèle Amouzou-Djaké, expressed a desire to claim this key role, currently held by Ferdinand Amazohoun, who replaced Yvettes Klutsè.

Beyond leadership roles, the G36 has raised other concerns likely tied to governance, transparency, and the resumption of national competitions.

If the ongoing dialogue leads to a mutual agreement, Togolese football could soon see the revival of the national championship and other local tournaments, marking a new chapter in the country’s football administration.
