Anges FC Take Charge in Togolese Premier League After Coaching Change
The 8th matchday of the Togolese 1st Division saw reigning champions Anges FC make a strong statement with a crucial away victory, just days after dismissing their coach due to unsatisfactory results. Under new interim manager James Assasse, Anges secured a 2-1 win over AS Douanes, marking an encouraging start to a new chapter.
Elsewhere, Unisport maintained their momentum by defeating Gbikinti 2-1, asserting themselves as contenders in the league. Meanwhile, struggling Maranatha suffered another setback, losing 2-0 on the road against Foadan in Dapaong, continuing their difficult season.
AS Togo Port also recorded an important away win, edging Gomido 1-0 to climb up the standings. However, weather conditions forced the postponement of the Agaza versus Dyto fixture until Monday.
The weekend further intensified the pressure on Semassi, who dropped to third place after a narrow 1-0 home defeat at the hands of ASKO.
The league table is now led by Anges FC with 16 points, closely pursued by Semassi and Foadan, each on 14 points. At the lower end of the table, Gomido lingers in 11th place with just 6 points, while Dyto remains anchored at the bottom with 3 points but holds a game in hand.
