ASFOSA Lomé Reelects Amouzou Tete Anthonio as President Amid Ambitions for Top-Flight Return
ASFOSA Lomé, a second division club in Togo, has reaffirmed its leadership by reelecting Amouzou Tete Anthonio as president for another five-year term. The club held its executive board elections on Saturday, complying with a directive from the Togolese Football Federation (FTF) calling all clubs to renew their offices ahead of the federation’s upcoming congress.
Anthonio, the sole candidate, was acclaimed by club members and vowed to work tirelessly to restore ASFOSA’s status as a first division club. “It is a feeling of joy that I feel today because the sporting public of the Bè area has once again placed its trust in me to lead ASFOSA,” he told the press after the conference. “ASFOSA is a team that played in the first division. It is currently playing in the second division. My ambition is to do everything to ensure that this team regains its elite status and also to intensify financial research so that the team is equipped with the infrastructure. We are very happy to have installed a pitch so that we can play well on our pitch.”
Despite his leadership role at ASFOSA, Anthonio has yet to secure voting rights within the FTF, after unsuccessfully contesting the federation’s presidential election in 2010. An appeal to FIFA is underway, which could enable him to participate fully in the federation’s future assemblies, scheduled no later than November 5, 2014.
As ASFOSA looks to climb back to the top tier of Togolese football, Anthonio’s renewed mandate signals a commitment to both sporting success and improved club facilities.
