The Minister of Sports and Leisure of Togo, Angèle Djaké, has initiated the proceedings for the selection of the new coach for the Togo national football team. This morning, during a press briefing at the ministry’s headquarters, she launched the activities of the mixed technical commission responsible for choosing the successor to Didier Six. The commission comprises 11 members.
In light of the ongoing crisis within the Togolese Football Federation (FTF), which has resulted in the vulnerability of the national association, the government has deemed it necessary to embark on the search for a suitable candidate to lead the national team. This initiative involves a call for applications and the establishment of the technical commission to evaluate the candidates’ credentials.
The commission’s task, scheduled to take place in Notsé on April 16 and 17, involves reviewing the applications, assessing and ranking the candidates based on predetermined criteria, and selecting the top 5 candidates in order of merit.
Minister Djaké emphasized the importance of selecting a coach who possesses managerial skills, leadership qualities, adaptability, and the ability to foster a positive team environment. She underscored the need for a competent, unifying, and effective coach who can steer the team towards achieving specific objectives.
Furthermore, she urged the members of the technical commission to collaborate closely, maintain unity, and produce high-quality work grounded in objective criteria.
During the commission’s proceedings, a three-member executive board comprising a president and two secretaries will be established.
