Togo’s Referees Prepare for New National Football Championship Season with Training Course
As the start of Togo’s first division national football championship approaches, preparations are intensifying on all fronts. While clubs across the country are fine-tuning their squads with a series of friendly matches, the referees are also preparing themselves for the upcoming season.
Since Thursday, a comprehensive training course has been underway to ensure that referees are up to speed with the laws of the game and are ready for the challenges of officiating at the highest level. The seminar, which is being held at the Kegué Stadium in Lomé, brings together around fifty physical and technical referee instructors from all regions of Togo.
The training sessions, which focus on both the theoretical and practical aspects of refereeing, are being conducted by experienced local instructors. The group of teachers includes Mr. Lawson Segneame, Mr. Azaleko Améwosina, Mr. Bebou Bakoubébilé, and Mrs. Lawson Kayi. In addition, physical training is being overseen by Mr. Doh Komla Luther, Mr. Onodjé Ognandou, and Mr. Djoukeré Biagui, who are helping ensure that the referees are physically prepared for the demands of the game.
This training course is part of Togo’s ongoing efforts to improve the quality of football officiating in the country. With the new season set to kick off soon, it is crucial that referees are well-equipped to handle the pressures of the job and apply the rules accurately and consistently.
As the seminar progresses, the instructors are reinforcing the importance of fair play, decision-making under pressure, and maintaining fitness throughout the season. With the increased attention on football in Togo, ensuring that referees are at their best will be key to the smooth running of the championship.
The start of the new season is just around the corner, and with referees now in top form, all eyes will be on Togo’s first division football matches to see how the competition unfolds.
