Togo Begin preparations for crucial AFCON 2025 qualifier against Algeria

The Togo national football team, known as the Sparrowhawks, have officially kicked off their training camp in Tunisia as they prepare for the first leg of their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifier against Algeria. With the match set to take place on October 10 in Annaba, head coach Paulo Duarte has wasted no time getting his squad ready for the challenge.

Upon arrival in Tunisia, the Togolese delegation, which includes officials, technical staff, and several home-based players, held their first training session on Sunday. Among those in att

ndance were key figures such as Kloukpo Kokou, Benjamin Holete, and Outtara Moutalabou. These players formed the initial core of the squad as they began their preparations for the high-stakes fixture.

Also joining the camp were Sparrowhawks players already plying their trade in Tunisia, Roger Aholou and Klousseh Agbozo, who quickly linked up with their teammates to take part in the session.

With the camp now underway, coach Duarte is steadily assembling his full squad, with the rest of the players expected to arrive in the coming days.

Togo face a daunting task against Algeria, a team that boasts a rich footballing history and considerable talent.

Algeria are considered one of the top contenders in the race for qualification to the 2025 AFCON tournament.

Despite the challenge, Togo will be looking to use this preparation period to sharpen their skills and strategies ahead of the crucial first leg in Annaba.

Coach Duarte is likely to focus on building team cohesion and fine-tuning tactical elements, as Togo seek to capitalize on their preparations in Tunisia.

The second leg of the qualifier will follow shortly after, making it a pivotal doubleheader for the Sparrowhawks as they aim to secure a spot in the continental tournament.
