Timothée Nkada has confirmed his intention to represent Cameroon at international level, putting an end to speculation about a possible future with the French national team.

The 25-year-old striker, who currently plays for Ligue 2 side Rodez, holds dual nationality but made it clear in a recent interview that his focus lies firmly with the Indomitable Lions.

Amid growing public debate surrounding his international future, Nkada has taken a decisive stance by aligning himself with the country of his heritage.

“Absolutely, it’s a goal, I don’t hide it,” Nkada said when asked about his desire to play for Cameroon. “It would be a great achievement to be selected.

Historically, it’s one of Africa’s most prestigious teams. It would be an honour. There’s the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup coming up soon.”

Nkada’s declaration marks a significant moment in his career. With 17 goals this season, he is currently the second-highest scorer in France’s Ligue 2, a performance that has drawn the attention of football fans and national selectors alike.

Though he has yet to receive an official invitation from the Cameroonian Football Federation, the forward revealed that informal conversations have already taken place.

“I’ve already had some unofficial approaches from people who more or less deal with dual nationals, but nothing official,” Nkada explained, suggesting that the process of integration into the national setup may already be in motion.

Born in France, Nkada has long been eligible to represent either country. His decision is seen as a significant boost for Cameroon, who are in the process of reinforcing their squad ahead of key international fixtures.

With major tournaments on the horizon, including the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualifiers, the addition of an in-form striker could prove timely for the Indomitable Lions.

Cameroon has a well-established history of recruiting dual-national players, and Nkada’s decision mirrors that of several high-profile footballers who have chosen to represent their countries of origin rather than their countries of birth.

The move also speaks to Nkada’s ambition to make a mark on the international stage through a team where he believes his contributions will be valued and impactful.

While the striker awaits official confirmation of his first national team call-up, his commitment has already been welcomed by fans and commentators who view his potential inclusion as part of a wider strategy to revitalize Cameroon’s attacking options.

With the national team set to compete in several friendlies and qualifiers in the coming months, Nkada’s continued form at the club level could make him an increasingly difficult option to overlook.

For now, the focus remains on his performances with Rodez, where his goal-scoring exploits have made him one of the standout players in France’s second tier. But the striker has made his international ambitions unmistakably clear—and the ball is now in Cameroon’s court.
