The legal team of former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has issued a firm denial of all charges brought against him, following confirmation that the Ghana international has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
In a statement released by his lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire of Hickman and Rose, the 32-year-old footballer is said to be determined to clear his name and has fully cooperated with authorities throughout the investigation.
“Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him,” Wiltshire stated, as quoted by Sky Sports. “He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation.
“He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name. Given that there are now ongoing legal proceedings, my client is unable to comment further.”
Partey was formally charged on Friday, July 4, 2025, after a prolonged investigation into allegations dating back to 2021 and 2022.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed the charges involve three women.
The former Atletico Madrid midfielder was initially arrested in July 2022 but was not named publicly, as charges were not filed at the time.
Despite the ongoing investigation, Partey continued playing for Arsenal, making regular appearances in the Premier League before his contract expired on June 30, 2025.
The midfielder is now a free agent, and the criminal proceedings are expected to commence with his appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5.
His legal team has urged restraint in public commentary as the case moves forward, emphasizing his right to a fair trial.
The development marks a significant turn in a case that has remained largely confidential for years, and will now proceed through the courts.
