CAF’s Head of Women’s Football, Meskerem Tadesse Goshime, has disclosed that the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) will include long-term development initiatives focused on the players.
Speaking to CAFOnline, she said workshops will be organised for the players of the participating national teams in partnership with FIFPro.
According to her, the thinking behind this is to strengthen the women’s football ecosystem in Africa while laying a strong foundation for the future.
“The tournament will include long-term development initiatives. These include a workshop focused on players in partnership with FIFPro, as well as a full technical study on the evolution of tactical and technical aspects in participating teams’ gameplay.
“The goal is clear: to strengthen the women’s football ecosystem, develop skills, and lay solid foundations for the future,” Tadesse Goshime said.
The 2024 edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to kick off in Morocco on July 5.
The tournament will conclude on July 26 with a grand finale.
