Former France international Patrice Evra, who has Senegalese and Cape Verdean roots, has raised concerns about the outcome of the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.
According to him, FIFA organised the tournament to favour Argentine star Lionel Messi and did everything to favour the former FC Barcelona superstar.
Speaking to French media RMC, Patrice Evra claimed that even before the 2022 FIFA World Cup commenced, FIFA knew which country was going to lift the enviable trophy.
“Would you rather win or play well? Okay, we [France] haven’t won since 2018, but we all know that in 2022 they gave the World Cup to Messi… Everything was already written in the sand. Even the French wanted Messi to win,” Patrice Evra shared.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup was staged in Qatar. Argentina reached the final and beat France on penalties to claim the trophy led by football great Lionel Messi.
