Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has praised Spanish forward of Moroccan descent Lamine Yamal.
According to Ferdinand, Yamal is the most exciting player to watch in world football at the moment.
He believes the teenager is a strong contender for the 2025 Ballon d’Or award.
“Ballon d’Or, Ballon d’Or, Ballon d’Or. Lamine Yamal. I don’t think there is anyone more exciting to watch in a stadium now,” Rio Ferdinand told CBS Sports on Wednesday night.
The former Manchester United centre-back was speaking after FC Barcelona played a 3-3 draw with Inter Milan in their semi-final first leg clash.
Ferdinand believes Lamine Yamal is the key to FC Barcelona progressing to the final and holds the view that the teenager will deserve the Ballon d’Or if the Catalans win the UEFA Champions League.
“If he is decisive in Milan and the final, I think he deserves it,” Ferdinand said.
