Zamalek boss Ayman Al-Ramady praised his side’s spirited comeback after their 3-1 win over Petrojet on Saturday, ending the Premier League campaign on a high.
The Cairo giants overturned an early deficit at the Military College Stadium, where Rashad Metwally gave Petrojet the lead in the 24th minute. But Zamalek responded with determination. Hossam Abdel Meguid levelled the score in the 30th minute, before Esho fired them ahead five minutes after the break. Club captain Shikabala sealed the win with a last-minute strike.
In his post-match remarks, Al-Ramady said: “The win over Petrojet is important to gain confidence after a period of stumbling and I am happy with the level of the young players, they are promising elements and are capable of providing better technical levels in the coming periods.”
He added: “You will see the best in the coming period, Zamalek always offers beautiful football, it is a school of art and engineering.”
Al-Ramady dismissed rumours of a rift with the club’s board, clarified Abdullah Al-Saeed’s absence, and declared his dream of winning the Egyptian Cup.
