Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has defended Vinicius Junior, stating that the Brazilian-Cameroonian should not have received a ban following his red card incident.
Speaking to the press in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia ahead of their Spanish Super Cup semifinal clash against Mallorca, Ancelotti emphasized the difficulties Vinicius faces due to the insults directed at him, which have been a recurring theme in recent press conferences.
Vinicius received a two-match suspension for pushing Stole Dimitrievski in the face during a match against Valencia.
While questions arose about Real Madrid’s claims that racial abuse provoked Vinicius’ actions, Ancelotti refrained from discussing racial issues directly.
Despite ongoing conversations regarding Vinicius’ temperament, Ancelotti expressed satisfaction with the player’s contributions.
“Both I and he hear what happens in the field. I keep saying that being Vinicius is difficult. The sanction is not correct,” Ancelotti said.
“We are delighted with Vinicius in all aspects. Everyone thinks what they want. When talking about Vinicius’ provocations, we are diverting attention from the insults he receives.”
