Terem Moffi returns to full Hamburg training
Terem Moffi has taken another important step in his recovery from a knee problem and is now back in full team training with Hamburger SV.
The 27-year-old striker initially returned to training at the start of the week by completing only the warm-up before continuing his work individually. On Thursday, however, Moffi completed the entire session alongside his teammates for the first time since suffering the setback.
Hamburg coach Merlin Polzin confirmed that Moffi and Yussuf Poulsen both trained fully with the squad and are now options for Saturday’s Bundesliga trip to TSG Hoffenheim.
“They are definitely an option for the squad,” Polzin said.
Moffi is expected to train fully again on Friday, further improving his chances of being included in the matchday squad. However, a starting role is not guaranteed, with Polzin suggesting that limited minutes could be shared between the returning forwards.
“Sometimes you can reach the finish line with a half-full tank, too, if the distance isn’t too great. You’ll understand what I mean between the lines,” the coach said.
Moffi has featured in all four of Hamburg’s Bundesliga matches this season, starting two and playing 177 minutes, but he is yet to score or provide an assist.
Otto Stange could therefore still be considered for a starting position.
