Tenerife consider Schalke striker Christian Gomis as LaLiga2 link emerges

Senegalese-Spanish forward Christian Gomis has been linked with a move from FC Schalke 04 to Spanish club CD Tenerife.

The proposed switch would take the 26-year-old from Germany’s Bundesliga to Tenerife in LaLiga2, although there is no indication that a transfer has been agreed. Gomis remains a Schalke player and is under contract until 30 June 2029.

Gomis has yet to feature for Schalke in the 2026-27 Bundesliga campaign. He also has no appearance in the current DFB-Pokal season.

Schalke signed the centre-forward from Swiss club FC Winterthur on 1 September 2025 in a deal worth €1.5m. He was part of the Schalke squad that won the German second-tier title in the 2025-26 season.

The player’s current market value is listed at €1.2m, below the fee Schalke paid for him last year. Any move to Tenerife would therefore involve a player who remains tied to the German club for almost three more seasons.

Gomis began his senior career in Switzerland and had spells with Vevey-Sports and Stade Nyonnais before joining Winterthur. His current situation at Schalke, combined with his lack of competitive minutes at the start of the new campaign, has now been followed by reported interest from Tenerife.
