Fast-rising teenager Assane Diao has a difficult decision to make in the March international break.
The Italy-based forward who plays for Serie A side Como has been contacted by both Senegal and Spain to play for the senior national teams of the two countries.
Assane Diao, 19, is now torn between choosing the Teranga Lions of Senegal or La Roja of Spain.
According to Como manager Cesc Fàbregas, Assane Diao has been called up to play for Senegal in the upcoming games.
Speaking ahead of Como’s Italian Serie A match against Venezia, Fàbregas confirmed that Assane Diao is also included in the pre-list of Spain for their upcoming international matches.
“Assane Diao has been called up by Senegal, but he is also on the pre-list for Spain. He has to make a choice. I spoke with him; it is also my job to make him understand that he must not forget what brought him to this level,” the Como manager said.
Assane Diao has been a revelation for Como this season in the Italian Serie A. The teenager has scored five goals for Como after making nine appearances in the ongoing campaign.
He must decide on which country he wants to represent at the senior level next week.
Already, he has played for the U18, U19, and U21 national teams.
