AS Saint-Étienne Eyes Taye Taiwo as Plan B for Left-Back Position
With difficulties retaining Benoît Trémoulinas—who was on loan from Dynamo Kyiv—AS Saint-Étienne is reportedly considering Taye Taiwo as a backup option. The 29-year-old Nigerian, currently with Bursaspor, could be brought in if negotiations for Trémoulinas fall through.
According to Eurosport, manager Christophe Galtier sees Taiwo as a viable alternative. Taiwo, well known in Ligue 1 from his six seasons with Marseille, also had stints with AC Milan and spent a season on loan at Dynamo Kyiv before joining Bursaspor.
Despite being under contract with the Turkish club until 2016, Taiwo has previously attempted a return to Marseille, albeit unsuccessfully. A comeback to Ligue 1 could now be in the cards—this time with Les Verts.
