Tawfik Bentayeb attracting strong interest from Augsburg and Standard Liege after prolific Ligue 2 season

Tawfik Bentayeb’s outstanding campaign as Ligue 2’s top scorer for Troyes has triggered serious interest from Augsburg and Standard Liege, with the Morocco international also turning down lucrative approaches from Turkey.

The 24-year-old striker, who spent last season on loan at Troyes from Moroccan side US Touarga, finished as the French second tier’s leading marksman and is now on the radar of several European clubs.

According to Foot Mercato, Bundesliga side Augsburg are among the most determined suitors and are already in discreet negotiations as they look to secure his arrival.

Standard Liege push for deal

Standard de Liege have also moved firmly into the race for Bentayeb’s signature, as reported by Africafoot, positioning themselves as another strong contender for the forward.

The Belgian club are said to be pushing hard, although the competition remains open, with no agreement yet in place and other options still under consideration by the player and his entourage.

Turkish giants make offers – but Bentayeb not keen

Bentayeb’s form has also attracted interest from Turkey, where several clubs have put forward financially attractive proposals.

Besiktas and Trabzonspor have both tabled concrete offers for the Casablanca-born forward, reflecting the level of demand generated by his performances in France.

However, Bentayeb does not intend to continue his career in the Turkish Super Lig and is instead prioritising alternatives elsewhere in Europe, despite the favourable financial terms on offer.

Rising value after breakout season

A graduate of the Academie Mohammed VI, Bentayeb has seen his market value rise sharply on the back of his breakthrough year with Troyes, where his goalscoring exploits made him one of Ligue 2’s standout players.

His current valuation is estimated at €8m, a figure that interested clubs are expected to take into account as they step up talks with US Touarga over a potential transfer.

Bentayeb remains under contract with the Moroccan club, who loaned him to Troyes for the 2023-24 season, and any deal will need to satisfy their demands as well as the player’s sporting ambitions.

With Augsburg negotiating behind the scenes, Standard de Liege strongly positioned and Turkish giants Besiktas and Trabzonspor already turned away, the coming weeks are likely to be decisive in determining the next step in Bentayeb’s career.
