Morocco’s Technical Director, Tariq Sektioui, has been appointed to lead the national team at the 2025 Arab Cup, set to take place in Qatar later this year.
The North African side is expected to field a blend of players from the Moroccan domestic league and Europe-based professionals for the tournament, scheduled for November.
According to a reliable source, Sektioui will also be in charge of the team during the African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals in Kenya this August, ahead of the Arab Cup.
Sektioui recently guided Morocco’s Olympic team to a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Games, boosting his credentials for the senior role.
“Before this participation, coordination will take place between Sektioui and Walid Regragui, coach of the first team, regarding the roster,” the source said.
“The professional players in the Gulf and Egypt, who will not be able to participate with the Atlas Lions in the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), will participate with Sektioui in the Arab Cup.”
Morocco exited the last edition of the Arab Cup in the second round after a penalty shootout defeat to Algeria.
