Officials of the Tangier Union Football Club (UT) are eagerly anticipating the outcome of the regular session of the municipal council scheduled for Tuesday, with keen interest.
Fans and stakeholders of the “Black Knights” await the results of the municipal council session, following the cancellation of the extraordinary session in April, which was supposed to grant an annual support subsidy of half a billion centimes.
This cancellation was due to the conflict of interest arising from Mohammed Echarkawi, the president of the Tangier Union, holding a position as a municipal councilor.
The Tangier Municipal Council is leaning towards approving a new partnership agreement in an attempt to divert financial assistance to the football club.
This agreement, amounting to 500 million centimes, is expected to be prepared this time with the Association of the Club’s School instead of the first team.
Sources from “Parliament Sport” indicate that the Tangier Municipal Council has prepared a new partnership agreement with the Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of National Education and Sports, and the Association for Managing and Developing the Performance of the Tangier Union, with the aim of passing the annual financial accreditation allocated to the club.
Officials of the Tangier club see this subsidy as a vital lifeline, as it could rescue the team from financial distress caused by accumulating debts, particularly player salaries and match bonuses.
The club’s financial situation had deteriorated to the extent that players threatened to strike during recent matches.
However, interventions by coach Helal Attar and assurances from President Mohammed Echarkawi, who pledged to resolve the players’ situation immediately upon receiving the expected half a billion centimes subsidy, have somewhat stabilized the atmosphere.
The decision on the subsidy, expected to be approved on Tuesday, could potentially alleviate financial pressures and provide a much-needed boost for Tangier Union Football Club.
