Swedish-Eritrean striker Alexander Isak struggles on Liverpool debut

Sweden international of Eritrean descent Alexander Isak could not live up to expectation for Liverpool in his first appearance for the club.

Isak, who secured a transfer deadline day move to the reds in the summer was handed a starting role as his outfit triumphed over Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League opener, held at the Anfield on Wednesday night.

The former Newcastle United attacker lasted 58 minutes as Liverpool secured a 3-2 hard-fought victory over the Spanish giants.

Despite Liverpool snatching victory, the former Real Sociedad star struggled to perform for the Premier League outfit. Isak had zero shot on target, one successful dribble out of 4 attempt, while losing nine possessions in the match.

The 25-year-old striker had to be replaced in the second half after failing to live up to expectation, with, Hugo Ekitike taking up his place.
