Alexander Isak has reportedly authorised his representatives to begin formal talks with Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal over a potential summer transfer, as speculation grows around the striker’s future at Newcastle United.
Isak, who is of Eritrean descent, has emerged as a prime target for the Riyadh-based club following Newcastle’s refusal to entertain a proposed move to Liverpool.
His availability is now the subject of significant interest, with discussions between his camp and Al Hilal said to be underway.
The 25-year-old scored 25 goals across all competitions for Newcastle during the 2024/25 season and remains a key figure in Eddie Howe’s squad.
However, the club’s financial position and their links to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which also owns Al Hilal, have sparked speculation that an internal transfer could be facilitated between the two PIF-controlled entities.
French journalist Santi Aouna, who broke the news, indicates that while dialogue has begun, it remains unclear whether the shared ownership structure would accelerate or complicate the deal.
Isak, who joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 for a then-club record fee, still has three years remaining on his contract. Neither Newcastle nor Al Hilal have issued public statements on the ongoing negotiations.
