Swansea City have confirmed the capture of Malick Yalcouyé on a season-long loan from Brighton & Hove Albion for the 2025-26 campaign, pending international clearance and visa approval.
The 19-year-old, who will wear the number eight shirt, arrives as head coach Alan Sheehan looks to reinforce his midfield options ahead of the new season.
Born in Mali but representing Ivory Coast at youth level, Yalcouyé is known for his tireless work rate, ball-winning ability, and composed distribution from deep.
His arrival is expected to inject energy and defensive stability into Swansea’s engine room.
Yalcouyé began his career at Centre de Formation Etoiles De Sahel Abobo before joining Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas.
He broke into their first team at just 17, making his mark in the CAF Champions League. His performances attracted European scouts, and in January 2024 he moved to Swedish side IFK Göteborg — a well-trodden route for ASEC talents.
After just 14 appearances in the Allsvenskan, Brighton signed him in a £6 million deal during the summer 2024 window, handing him a five-year contract.
His debut Premier League campaign saw him loaned to Austrian outfit Sturm Graz, where he impressed in both domestic competition and the UEFA Champions League.
Brighton boss Fabian Hürzeler has publicly praised the teenager’s rapid development and competitive edge, viewing the Swansea loan as a key step in his progression.
The Swans believe Yalcouyé’s blend of physicality, vision, and continental experience will be a valuable asset as they push for a strong season in the Championship.
