Portuguese coach José Gomes, the head coach of Zamalek’s first football team, has excluded several key players from the squad traveling to Saudi Arabia on Monday.
The move comes ahead of the highly anticipated clash against arch-rivals Al Ahly in the final of the Egypt Cup for the 2022-2023 season.
Zamalek is set to face Al Ahly next Friday at the Al Oul Park Stadium in Saudi Arabia, in what promises to be a thrilling showdown for the Egypt Cup title.
Among the notable omissions from Gomes’ lineup for the Al Ahly match are Mohamed Abdel-Shafy and Mahmoud Hamdi “El Wensh,” both sidelined due to cruciate ligament injuries.
Ziyad Kamal is also ruled out due to a hamstring tear, while Senegalese forward Ibrahim N’Diaye is sidelined with a thigh muscle injury.
Additionally, Yasser Hamdi, Mahab Yasser, Mohamed Atef, Saif Farouk Jafar, Abdulrahman Nefad, and Travis Mutyaba have been left out for tactical reasons.
