Renowned Egyptian sports commentator Ahmed Shobier issued a caution about the risk of injury a week before the revelation unfolded, as Imam Ashour, part of Egypt’s national football team, suffered a concussion during a recent training session.
This incident follows his appearance as a goalkeeper in one of the team’s drills before the Ghana match in the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations group stage.
A Week After Shobier’s Alert: Imam Ashour’s Injury Scenario Recurs
In a practice session held on Wednesday.
Imam Ashour sustained a concussion while participating in volleyball exercises, confirming his absence from the upcoming match against the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the Round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The player was subsequently transported to the hospital after the dual impact of the injury during the volleyball drills.
Imam Ashour, a key player for Egypt’s national team, found himself in a situation eerily similar to the one Shobier had warned against a week prior.
The caution came in the wake of former player Hossam Hassan sustaining a hand fracture while in the goalkeeper position during a team training session.
At that time, Captain Mahmoud El-Gohary expressed dissatisfaction with Hassan, given the team’s upcoming challenging match.
Egypt is set to face the Democratic Republic of the Congo in their next encounter, scheduled for 10:00 PM next Sunday.
The match holds significance as part of the Round of 16 fixtures in the prestigious Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
