Nigeria’s Super Eagles are fully prepared to take on Rwanda in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, with forward Ademola Lookman stating that the team is under no pressure ahead of the crucial encounter.
The Atalanta winger expressed his optimism as the three-time African champions gear up for the fixture at Kigali’s Amahoro Stadium.
Speaking to Ojb Sports, Lookman emphasized the team’s readiness and positive mindset going into the match.
“I’m just happy to be back with the team, to be reunited with the guys. We have a big task ahead of us, and we’re looking forward to tackling it,” Lookman said.
The 26-year-old revealed that discussions with the coaching staff have revolved around tactical approaches, balancing between defensive solidity and attacking fluidity.
He highlighted the team’s determination and strong morale as key factors in their preparations.
“We’ve talked a lot about the manager’s strategy, whether to defend or attack, and the atmosphere is great with everyone committed to the project,” he added.
Preparation for the match has been thorough, with Lookman confirming that the team has successfully completed two intensive training sessions.
Meetings have also been held to reinforce tactical plans ahead of the encounter.
Nigeria, currently among the favorites to secure qualification from Group C, will aim to consolidate their position with a strong performance in Kigali.
Meanwhile, Eric Chelle’s Rwanda side is still searching for their first win in the group after four matches, making this fixture a pivotal one for their campaign.
The Super Eagles, buoyed by their depth of talent and recent form, will be looking to take full advantage of Rwanda’s struggles in the qualifiers.
With a blend of experience and youthful exuberance in their squad, Nigeria remains confident in securing a positive result.
Kick-off at the Amahoro Stadium is set for Friday, with the Super Eagles determined to strengthen their path to the 2026 World Cup.
