Sundowns name starting XI for Betway Premiership clash with Milford

Mamelodi Sundowns and Milford FC have confirmed their starting line-ups for this evening’s Betway Premiership match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, with Sundowns aiming to close the gap on leaders Orlando Pirates.

Miguel Cardoso’s side enter the fixture in emphatic form after beating AmaZulu 5-2 in their previous league match. That result maintained the pressure on Orlando Pirates at the top of the table and underlined Sundowns’ attacking threat.

Victory against Milford would move Sundowns level on points with the Buccaneers. However, they would need to win by more than six goals without conceding to overtake Orlando Pirates at the summit on goal difference.

Sundowns have selected Williams in goal, with Mdunyelwa, Khoza and Kekana forming part of the defensive set-up. Modiba, Aubaas and Allende are also included, while Van Wyk, B. Mokoena, Matthews and Rayners complete the starting line-up.

Mamelodi Sundowns’ substitutes are Goss, Morena, Mvala, Basadien, Mokoena, Zwane, Ndlovu, Mailula and Leon.

Milford will look to continue their impressive start to life in top-flight football under manager Xanti Pupuma. Since securing promotion, they have collected seven points from a possible 12 and sit fifth after four rounds of action.

Their campaign has included victories over Siwelele FC and Kruger United, while their most recent result was a goalless draw away to Polokwane City.

Milford have named Ntwari, Mukumela, Sibiya, Mohamme, Seedat, Nel, Tavengwa, Makhubela, Mphothe, Malatjie and Zwane in their starting XI for the match in Tshwane.

Their substitutes are Dandjinou, Ndlela, Sibanyoni, Ndlovu, Thwala, Matima, Makhubu, Mngonyama and Mahlangu.

The meeting provides Sundowns with an opportunity to strengthen their challenge at the top of the Betway Premiership, while Milford will be seeking another positive result as they adjust to the demands of top-flight football.

Sundowns’ attacking form will be central to the contest after their five-goal performance against AmaZulu. Milford, meanwhile, will aim to build on the seven points they have taken from their opening four matches and extend their encouraging start under Pupuma.

The match will be played at Loftus Versfeld Stadium this evening.
