Strasbourg sign Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen on a season-long loan

Strasbourg have signed Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen on loan for the 2026-27 season.

The Denmark international has agreed a one-year temporary move to the French club, who confirmed the deal on Tuesday.

Jørgensen joined Chelsea from Villarreal in the summer of 2024 and has made 36 appearances for the club since arriving. He has kept 12 clean sheets during that time.

The 24-year-old played 12 matches for Chelsea last season, recording two clean sheets while conceding 17 goals.

Jørgensen’s move to Strasbourg gives him the opportunity to play more regularly after competing for a place in Chelsea’s squad. His two-year spell at Stamford Bridge has already included success in two major competitions.

During his three years with Chelsea, Jørgensen has won the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Strasbourg finished eighth in Ligue 1 last season. As a result, they will not compete in any European competition during the upcoming campaign.

The French side’s league position means Jørgensen’s focus will be on domestic football after leaving a Chelsea team involved in European and international competition. His arrival adds another goalkeeper to Strasbourg’s squad ahead of the new season, with the loan agreement lasting for the full campaign.

Jørgensen began his career at Villarreal before moving to Chelsea in 2024. Since then, he has accumulated 36 appearances for the London club and maintained a clean sheet in one-third of those matches.

His record last season included 12 appearances, two clean sheets and 17 goals conceded. Those figures came during a campaign in which he also remained part of a Chelsea squad that lifted both the UEFA Conference League trophy and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Strasbourg will now have the Denmark goalkeeper available for their Ligue 1 campaign, although their eighth-place finish means they will not have European fixtures to contend with next season.

The move is a temporary transfer rather than a permanent departure from Chelsea, with Jørgensen set to return to the English club after completing his season in France.
