Senegal international Habib Diarra is set to miss Strasbourg’s upcoming French Ligue 1 clash against Saint Etienne this weekend.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been battling injuries in recent times, limiting him to a fewer number of matches at the club.
Diarra, who is the captain of Strasbourg was forced off with an injury in the 57th minute during last weekend’s 0-0 draw with AS Monaco.
Before this, Diarra had suffered an ankle injury at the start of March during Strasbourg’s 1-0 victory over AJ Auxerre.
It was an injury that saw him miss the next three games before he made his return off the bench against Stade de Reims, before starting the following match against OGC Nice.
However, against Monaco, the captain relapsed. Despite returning to training on Tuesday, manager Rosenior will not risk aggravating the injury by playing him against AS Saint-Étienne on Saturday afternoon.
Strasbourg remain in the hunt for automatic qualification to the Champions League, with three points separating them from Monaco in third.
