Stephen Constantine has officially been appointed as the new coach of the Rwanda national football team for a two-year term, as announced a week ago. The 51-year-old Cypriot coach was introduced to the press in Kigali on Wednesday, taking over from Eric Nshimiyimana, whose contract expired on July 31.

Constantine’s first major challenge will be the return leg of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifiers against Libya. In the first leg last weekend, Rwanda’s national team, Amavubi, managed to secure a 0-0 draw against the Mediterranean Knights.

Constantine brings with him considerable coaching experience, having previously managed teams in Africa, including Malawi from February 2007 to April 2008. He has also coached national teams in Nepal, India, and Sudan.

Andre Casa Mbungo, a Rwandan, will serve as Constantine’s assistant coach.
