Stellenbosch FC has officially secured the services of Nigerian right-back Enyinnaya Kazie Godswill from Rivers United, bolstering their defensive options for the remainder of the season.
Although Godswill joined Stellenbosch during the off-season, his debut was delayed due to work permit complications.
The 25-year-old defender brings a wealth of experience, having made eight appearances in the CAF Champions League and 28 in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Expressing his excitement about the move, Godswill said, “First of all, I want to thank God for bringing me here after a long wait. I’m very happy to be here and to be part of the Stellenbosch family.
It is a great club that has already achieved some great things, like reaching the MTN8 final this season and competing in the CAF Confederation Cup, and I am looking forward to adding to that with my experience.”
He added, “I want to contribute positively on the pitch, and I can promise that I will do everything within my reach to ensure that the fans and the coaches are happy.”
Godswill’s career statistics underline his potential impact at Stellenbosch. With over 170 professional matches under his belt, he offers stability and depth to the squad.
His arrival sets up a competition for the right-back position, currently occupied by Kyle Jurgens following Deano Van Rooyen’s transfer to Orlando Pirates.
The addition of Godswill is seen as a strategic move for Stellenbosch as they aim to build on their strong performances this season, including reaching the MTN8 final and participating in continental competitions.
His experience and determination could prove invaluable as the team looks to maintain its momentum in domestic and international campaigns.
This signing reaffirms Stellenbosch FC’s commitment to strengthening their squad and continuing their upward trajectory in South African football.
