Stanton Fredericks takes on Director of Football role at Mochudi Centre Chiefs

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Stanton Fredericks has moved into a new leadership position at Botswana Premier League club Mochudi Centre Chiefs FC, where he will serve as Director of Football.

Fredericks, affectionately known as ‘Stiga’, will take responsibility for key football operations at the Botswana club, including player movements. His appointment marks a change in his responsibilities after he was previously involved with the organisation’s Board of Directors.

The club confirmed the development in an official announcement, outlining Fredericks’ role in shaping the football department and supporting Mochudi Centre Chiefs FC’s long-term planning.

The former Kaizer Chiefs star is expected to oversee several areas of the club’s sporting structure. These include youth development, player recruitment and technical support, with the responsibilities linked to the club’s stated ambition of building a sustainable football operation.

“Stanton Fredericks transitions into a strategic role on the Board of Directors as Director of Football, where he will oversee youth development, player recruitment and technical support, reinforcing the club’s long-term football vision and commitment to sustainable success,” reads the statement.

The announcement describes the move as part of a wider leadership transition at Mochudi Centre Chiefs FC. Fredericks will therefore shift his focus towards the club’s football strategy and the management of its playing and technical affairs.

His duties will include involvement in decisions concerning player recruitment and movements, as well as support for the development of young players. The club also identified technical assistance as one of the areas that will fall under his remit.

The change comes after Fredericks’ time in a board-level position at the Botswana Premier League side. While the club’s announcement said he would no longer serve on the Board of Directors, its formal statement also referred to his new position as a strategic role on the board.

Alongside the announcement of Fredericks’ appointment, Mochudi Centre Chiefs FC confirmed a change in its sporting leadership. Fredericks has appointed Nic Mathew as President of Mochudi Centre Chiefs Sporting Club.

Mathew will lead the club into what the organisation described as its next chapter.

“As part of this leadership transition, he has appointed Nic Mathew as President of Mochudi Centre Chiefs Sporting Club to lead the Club into its next chapter.”

The two appointments form part of the club’s revised leadership structure, with Fredericks concentrating on football-related responsibilities and Mathew taking up the presidency of Mochudi Centre Chiefs Sporting Club.

Fredericks remains best known for his time at Kaizer Chiefs, but his latest role places him in charge of important sporting functions at the Botswana Premier League club. His responsibilities will cover both the development of the club’s football system and the management of its player-related activity.
