Eyong Enoh Blocked by Transfer Dispute Between Standard Liège and Antalyaspor
Cameroonian international Eyong Enoh remains sidelined at Standard Liège, unable to make his debut due to a transfer dispute with former club Antalyaspor.
Despite joining the Belgian club during the last days of the summer transfer window and training with the first team, Enoh has yet to be selected for any official matches. The reason: Antalyaspor is refusing to release his International Transfer Certificate (ITC), which is necessary for FIFA to authorize the move.
The Turkish club contests Enoh’s status, even though the player believes he’s contractually free. Enoh argues that a contract clause granted him a release in the event of relegation — a condition he claims was met. Furthermore, he says the club failed to pay his wages, reinforcing his claim of being out of contract.
Standard Liège initially attempted negotiations to resolve the standoff, but with no breakthrough, they have now escalated the matter to FIFA. The governing body will need to decide whether Antalyaspor’s stance is valid or whether Enoh’s rights have been infringed.
In the meantime, Eyong Enoh remains in limbo, unable to help his new team on the pitch and waiting on FIFA’s verdict — a situation that highlights the murky side of international football transfers.
