The head coach of Stade de Reims, Samba Diawara, has charged his players to improve after reaching the final of the 2024/25 Coupe de France.
The Malian tactician was unhappy on Wednesday when his team defeated lower-tier outfit AS Cannes in the semi-final of the Cup competition.
Despite the 2-1 victory, Stade de Reims’ performance was not encouraging, with players committing so many errors.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Samba Diawara said that although he is unhappy, he wants his team to focus on the final and work hard to achieve their targets at the end of the season.
“We are in the final of the Coupe de France and we have our destiny in our own hands in the league. But what I liked less was the way in which we did it. Our safety will come through something more consistent. When we make a step forward, we take one backwards,” said Diawara at a press conference.
He continued, “Relapsing and making the same errors again is maybe worrying but I don’t want to kill the atmosphere. What we focus on is the qualification.”
After reaching the final of the Coupe de France, Stade de Reims will face PSG.
