Lamine Yamal has expressed relief and satisfaction after finalizing his contract extension with Barcelona, emphasizing his desire to concentrate solely on his performance on the pitch.
The 17-year-old forward, who signed a new deal last week securing his future at the club until 2031, shared with Radio Cope that closing the contract negotiations swiftly allowed him to focus on football without distraction.
Despite his youth, he is rapidly becoming a key figure at the Camp Nou, receiving attention that now follows him closely.
He acknowledged the growing scrutiny but explained how he handles it with the support of friends who motivate him before matches.
When asked about his allegiance, Yamal dismissed any possibility of joining Real Madrid in the future, affirming, “No, that is impossible.”
“The best thing is that we talk about what I do on the pitch, not off it. I had no doubts about what I wanted to do. I wanted to resolve it quickly.
“I spoke to the president, people didn’t know that after the restaurant I went to the arcade or to play PlayStation. I try to do what a 17-year-old boy does.
“Now I don’t go and pick up my brother anymore, everything is very different and I understand that. The great players were Lewandowski, Gündogan, Raphinha… and now people talk about me more, and I live more peacefully.”
